![]() everything i do, i do for love... therefore, i'm knot-working! Jo Adell is a fourth generation artisan who spent her childhood following her mother to crafts shows and jewelry shows. She began her career in needlework in 1970, embroidering to pass the time in her mother’s booth. As the great-granddaughter of a blacksmith and an embroiderer, granddaughter of a milliner, and daughter of the famous Carrie Adell, it comes as no surprise that she too has found her living in the arts. Jo brings a lifetime of artistic
experience to her business, knot-working, which offers her own line of
designer jewelry, a pearl and bead stringing service, a line of
notecards featuring images of her award winning embroideries, her
ever-popular Wishing Bells and Gemstone Wind Chimes, and the
administration of Carried Away, her late mother’s collection of
one-of-a- kind “Touchstone” beads and jewelry.
Since 1998 Jo has been stringing
pearls and beads for some of the finest jewelry designers in the
country. Primarily a fiber artist, the art of working with silk
and needle came naturally to her hands. Jo’s jewelry collection
Odile reflects her love of combining color and texture with a versatile
palette of pearl and gemstone combinations. She is happy to
experiment with custom color combination or design collaboration.
The inspiration for Wishing Bells was born of a period of healing from
a string of personal losses, which culminated with her mother’s death
and 9/11 occurring within weeks of each other. Jo continues
limited production of her mother’s beloved Touchstones, recycling
Carrie’s art and vision, an ongoing design collaboration, which began
the day Carrie sent her a clasp & told her to “have fun with it”.
